Please follow aftercare instructions given to you by your practitioner.
-
1. Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)
What it is: Darkening of the skin in the treated area due to increased melanin production after inflammation.
Why it happens: More common in darker skin tones or when aftercare advice (such as sun protection) is not followed
2.Erythema (Redness)
What it is: General redness of the skin, similar to mild sunburn.
Why it happens: A normal and temporary reaction due to increased blood flow and inflammation after laser exposure.
3. Edema (Swelling)
What it is: Puffiness or swelling around the treated area, especially common after laser hair removal.
Why it happens: The body’s natural inflammatory response to heat and treatment.
4. Folliculitis
What it is: Inflammation or infection of hair follicles, sometimes appearing as small red or white bumps.
Why it happens: Heat from the laser can irritate follicles, especially in areas prone to sweat and friction.
5. Acne Breakouts
What it is: New or worsened spots between sessions.
Why it happens: Heat and skin disruption can temporarily trigger oil production or inflammation, particularly in acne-prone clients.
6.Dryness and Flaking
What it is: Peeling or flaking skin in the treated area.
Why it happens: Laser energy accelerates cell turnover, which can temporarily dry out the skin.
7. Crusting or Scabbing
What it is: Formation of small crusts or scabs over treated spots.
Why it happens: The skin’s natural healing process after targeted laser energy breaks down pigment or damaged tissue.
8. Blistering (Rare)
What it is: Small fluid-filled blisters.
Why it happens: Usually a sign of excessive heat exposure or unsuitable settings for the skin type.
